IOGP consultation response: Rationalisation of reporting requirements

IOGP Europe supports the European Commission’s consultation aimed at identifying and streamlining reporting requirements in numerous EU legislations. This is in line with what was announced in the speech of the President of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, in March 2023.

Whilst we acknowledge the importance of this initiative, we have sought to identify key challenges affecting the upstream Oil and Gas industry: our response presents suggestions to EU decision-makers, while emphasizing the need for improved alignment with the Better Regulation principle. We primarily addressed Taxonomy application obstacles, CSRD implementation challenges and we underlined the broader spectrum of sustainable efforts employed by our membercompanies towards reaching net-zero.
