Omnibus Simplification Package EU Taxonomy Consultation
IOGP Europe welcomes the opportunity to provide input on the proposed amendments to the Taxonomy Delegated Acts. We believe that simplifying and making reporting more cost-effective for companies is a crucial step towards fostering sustainable economic growth and ensuring compliance with environmental standards.
We therefore welcome the intent and ambitions set out in the Explanatory Memorandum to the draft Directive and in the Commission Staff Working Documents published so far – in particular the objective of simplifying to a set of disclosures that are more focused, prioritised and useful for readers, while being more pragmatic in application and assurance for reporting entities.
The amendments published to date make a number of steps toward simplification, but for significant workload reduction, and focusing and simplification for readers, more substantial changes will need to be made through the next amendment phase (and in the current phase as suggested below).
We look forward to opportunities to provide constructive input from the outset of the development of the next wave of directive amendments, as well as to meaningfully contribute to formal consultations so that the revisions made achieve these objectives in practice and in real-world application.
