The proposed Simplification Omnibus Package represents a crucial opportunity to restore regulatory clarity and enable meaningful action on the ground. For Europe's industries to remain competitive, attract investment, and lead in the green transition, the regulatory framework must be coherent, proportionate, and implementable. At present, the interaction between the CSRD, CSDDD, and the EU Taxonomy results in a fragmented landscape, marked by overlapping and highly detailed requirements.
This risks diverting scarce, high-skilled resources away from delivering tangible sustainability outcomes and toward managing compliance complexity. In the context of ongoing legislative negotiations, our three associations have jointly identified key areas where simplification is most urgently needed. As outlined in our attached joint statement, we present targeted, constructive proposals to help make EU sustainability legislation more consistent, more predictable, and better aligned with operational realities.
We fully support the EU's climate and sustainability ambitions. But to succeed, the enabling framework must empower industry to act-not burden it with unnecessary layers of complexity. If strengthened during the inter-institutional negotiations, the Omnibus Package can mark a turning point from fragmentation to coherence, allowing companies to focus on what matters most: delivering real-world results for the climate and for Europe's competitiveness.
As representatives of sectors essential to the energy transition, industrial innovation, and Europe's economic resilience, we call on policymakers to safeguard and reinforce the simplification measures proposed-and to resist any efforts to reintroduce complexity. We stand ready to support EU institutions in shaping a sustainability framework that goes beyond reporting and drives meaningful, lasting impact.
