IOGP Europe’s Position on International GHG Supply Chain MMRV Framework

IOGP Europe supports the development of an international Measurement, Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MMRV) framework for GHG emissions, ensuring reliable data on methane, CO2, and other emissions across the supply chain.

Key aspects of the framework:

• Supply Chain Compatibility: The framework must fit diverse gas market configurations.
• Technological Flexibility: It should accommodate rapid advances in emissions measurement technology.
• Building on Existing Initiatives: Leverage current regulatory and voluntary efforts to avoid duplication.
• Verification: Data must be verified by accredited entities, ensuring accuracy and reliability.

By promoting transparency, consistency, and comparability, IOGP Europe believes that this international MMRV framework will be instrumental in creating a reliable, unified system for reporting GHG emissions across the global natural gas industry.
