Methane Emissions Glossary

In June 2019, GIE and MARCOGAZ published the report “Potential ways the gas industry can contribute to the reduction of methane emissions”. This industry-wide study was performed with contributions from representatives of the entire gas value chain. A need for a set of harmonised definitions covering the whole gas value chain emerged.

For this reason, a glossary on methane emission was developed to support the industry and other stakeholders in the use of consistent terminology.

Why does it matter?

This Glossary can also be used as a reference for the legislative process.
