IOGP Europe’s response to the Targeted consultation on assessing the usefulness of ISO 20022 standard for REMIT Exposure data reporting
This response sets out IOGP Europe’s views on ACER’s targeted consultation assessing the potential use of the ISO 20022 standard for reporting Exposure data under the revised REMIT framework. The consultation explores whether aligning the new Exposure XSD reporting format with ISO 20022 principles could improve interoperability, harmonisation, and efficiency for market participants and reporting entities, ahead of the adoption of the amended REMIT Implementing Regulation.
IOGP Europe welcomes the objective of standardisation and supports the application of ISO 20022 design principles where they add clarity and consistency. At the same time, the response highlights the importance of comprehensive and authoritative ACER documentation, clear and REMIT-aligned naming conventions, and sufficient implementation timelines to ensure the new reporting framework is practical, unambiguous, and fit for purpose for market participants.
