Working group & chairs

The association’s working groups cover key areas of the upstream sector and its interaction with the European regulatory environment. These groups provide the technical content that supports advocacy and stakeholder engagement.
Typical working group areas include methane emissions management, carbon capture and storage, climate policy implementation, energy security, offshore infrastructure, operational performance and digitalisation.

Working group chairs are the technical backbone of the association. They provide operational expertise and credibility to policy discussions.

Their participation should be prioritised in niche policy workshops, technical roundtables and regulatory discussions where policymakers seek practical insight into how legislation will impact operations and infrastructure

European Board meeting

The Board meeting remains the highest level governance forum. Selected external guests, such as senior policymakers or industry leaders, may be invited to provide strategic insight into evolving policy dynamics.

Zoltán Áldott has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of MOL and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Slovnaft since 25 June 2018. Between 1990 and 1991, Zoltán Áldott was an associate at Creditum Financial Consulting Ltd. Between 1992 and 1995, he held various positions at Eurocorp Financial Consulting Ltd. From 1995 to 1997, he was the Manager of MOL’s Privatisation Department and from 1997 until 1999, he was Director of Capital Markets. In 1999, Zoltán Áldott served as Director of Strategy & Business Development. From November 2000, he acted as Chief Strategy Officer and as Group Chief Strategy Officer from June 2001. He was Executive Vice President of MOL’s Exploration & Production Division between September 2004 and June 2011. Zoltán Áldott acted as President of INA Management Board between 1 April 2010 and 31 May 2018, and between 2001 and May 2018 he was a member of the MOL Executive Board.

Olav Aamlid Syversen is Vice President Political and Public Affairs, Head of EU Affairs & Country Manager Belgium at Equinor. He is also the Chair of the European Committee of the International Oil and Gas Association (IOGP). He joined Equinor in 2005 and has held several EU policy and regulatory advisory roles, including leading Equinor’s Gas Regulatory Affairs team. Prior to joining Equinor he was head of commodity analysis in the Risk Asset and Liability Management team of Electrabel SA/NV now part of the Engie Group. He has a degree in economics from the University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland and a master in European economics from the College of Europe, Bruges, Belgium

François-Régis joined IOGP in January 2018. He has around 30 years of international experience in the oil and gas industry. He is seconded to IOGP from TotalEnergies, where he was Vice President for Oil and Gas Advocacy. His career has taken him from reservoir engineering to business development and Public Affairs, working in Europe, U.S. and Africa. He has also served in senior advisory roles at the World Bank’s Gas Flaring Reduction Partnership in Washington D.C. and TotalEnergies’ European Affairs office in Brussels.

François-Régis is married with four children and a golden retriever.
