Danube removals

The Danube Removals Project is a full chain CCS project that will sequester 500,000 tonnes of biogenic CO2 annually, transport it via a dedicated pipeline and store it in onshore saline acquifers. It is projected to be Europe's lowest-cost CCS project (CapEx: €80 million in capital, OpEx €14 million annually), benefiting from the low capture costs of fermentation processes like ethanol production. The project is highly replicable and aims to produce voluntary carbon market removal certificates that comply with the EU’s CFCR Regulation at a competitive price.
