Position: Junior Policy Officer (Sustainable finance)

Starting date: July/August 2022

Location: Brussels

Background

The International Association of Oil & Gas Producers Europe (IOGP Europe) is looking for a Junior Policy Officer to support its European Affairs Policy team based in Brussels. The selected candidate will be fully embedded within the team and will have the opportunity to work on the EU sustainable finance policies.

Role

  • Responsible for monitoring and identifying relevant EU policy and regulatory developments and informing IOGP Management and IOGP members about such developments in a concise, factual manner
  • Prepare briefings, presentations, speaking points, evaluations, minutes etc. for the IOGP Management and IOGP members to be used internally and in external engagements/events with EU policymakers, at conferences, and with IOGP members or stakeholders
  • Responsible for the drafting of high-quality IOGP position papers and responses to public consultations based on input from IOGP members, guidance from IOGP Management, and publicly available information (data, facts and figures) in line with the competition law
  • Work on EU sustainable finance initiatives (EU Taxonomy Regulation and all the Taxonomy Delegated Acts, CSRD, CSDDD)
  • Support the IOGP Management in developing and implementing actions aiming at the promotion of a comprehensive sustainable finance and reporting legislative framework at EU level
  • Possibly coordinate or support coordinating IOGP member expert group meetings and similar events including providing relevant input to discussions
  • Assist the Senior Policy Manager on policy matters, as needed
  • Interact with colleagues to fully leverage the team capacity
  • Follow third-party initiatives and discussions relevant to issues followed by IOGP or its activities
  • Coordinate contact with other sustainable finance stakeholders such as national or European trade associations and with NGOs

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Qualifications:
    • Master’s degree in public policy, energy policy, European Studies, Political Sciences, European law, Economics or equivalent
  • Experience:
    • Previous internship experience in office environment
    • Work experience in EU institutions or business association would be a strong plus;
  • Skills:
    • Strong writing skills and ability to turn complex content into concise and valuable policy input
    • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
    • Coordination and organization skills
    • Analytical and quantitative skills, desktop research
    • Very good knowledge of all Microsoft Office tools and Internet
    • Languages: Fluent in English. Knowledge of other European languages is an asset
